MacBook Pro serial number data not matching with the machine on Apple Trade

I recently bought a MacBook Pro M4 and when I checked the apple trade in as a joke it called it a "iMac i9 3.6GHz 27" (Early 2019) 1TB Fusion Drive" is this normal behaviour?

and yes I did buy it from an authorised seller in Denmark.

The Apple website tradein site tends to lag behind...I suspect it has not been updated.

the M4 is basically brand new, so not so surprising. I would not worry about it.

if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Apple is transitioning from an older, self-decoding serial number system, to a more complex serial numbering system that does NOT simply self-decode. Mistakes in applying that could yield wonky results.

--------

No currently-available-for-sale computers are eligible for trade-in. Given that, the Trade-in System is unlikely to have ever been set up for those ranges of serial numbers, and your results WILL be "undefined".

You can't use the trade-in system to decode any serial numbers except those that are actually eligible. The trade-in system is not set up for others, and it is EXPECTED to give some sort of error message OR spurious results, which you have now confirmed experimentally.
