Thunderbolt 27 Display - USB hub, camera and speakers not recognised

Hello

I have an Apple Thunderbolt 27 display attached to a Mac mini 2018 running macOS 15.5 using the Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter . Up until a week ago it all worked fine. Now the USB hub, the camera and the microphone/ speakers are not recognised by the Mac. The display is working fine to display images. I tried to attach a Macbook Pro 2016 and the behaviour is the same.

The strange thing is that all is working perfectly well when I use Bootcamp: I can use the camera in Teams, attach USB devices and use the display speakers.

I tried resetting the PRAM of the Mac mini without success. Has anyone encountered something similar?

I have a question:

Have you put TB display under stress with Bootcamp? (put on youtube, camera and attach few USB devices...etc).

From my past experience with TB displays (I had owned more than 12), that logic board has been the main problem.

Sometimes, after reboot/or rest for a while, it will work (both MacOS or Bootcamp) for unknown period of time. Then it would start unpredicably. The symptoms just like you described - only display works BUT no sound/webcam/attached USB devices..

The only fix will be - replacing the board --- BUT, TB display has been obsolete, that the logic board can be found in the used market. The process can be risky.

Sorry for the bad news.

Best
