Why are some 4mp videos not compatible with QuickTime player when transferring to an ExFat USB stick?

I have downloaded some 4Mp videos on my iMac, but some are not transfering to a ExFat 1.05 TB usb stick

Some are transfering ok, but some are saying they are not compatible with QuickTime player. They are ok on the mac and have tried downloading the file again thinking they maybe corrupt. But I'm getting the same result . I am totally baffled!

Did you mean .mp4 files?

Video files should be compatible with QuickTime Player when they’re in a .mp4/.mov/.m4v container and have H.264 or H.265 video and AAC audio. Other codecs may have lesser compatibility. The file system shouldn’t matter for self-contained files (no external references).

If you are using this USB flash drive or other external disk with Macs exclusively, then consider reformatting as HFS+ or APFS. Reformatting would also erase, so keep your data safe first. exFAT is for Windows compatibility.

USB sticks are not the most reliable storage. Run a checksum app to verify if source and copy are actually the same.

Trying to to transfer them onto a usb some files transfer and others don't. All the same format, all the same MPEG4. I have reformatted the usb from Ex fat to APFS, but still have the same issue!!

Sequoia has some new exFAT features which might have some teething problems. But if also APFS has same problems, then I'd suspect that the USB stick itself is bad.
